In the Maxwell’s demon thought experiment, sorting atoms into another room would reduce the system’s entropy, apparently violating the second law of thermodynamics.

And for a long time I think there wasn't like a very satisfying answer for why that was the case, but then there was a more recent paper in the nineteen hundreds um more recently to us uh Landauer came up with the argument that you'd have to spend energy to delete information.”
